Martin takes to the skies in the name of charity!
Categorised in: Charities | Posted on: 29 May 2021We’re a charitable bunch at C&L and are proud to roll our sleeves up and get involved in fundraising, supporting local community charities as well as the work we do to raise vital funds for our chosen charity, Cancer Research UK. However, whilst committing to walking 10,000 steps a day, donating clothes, and giving up our free time are all admirable activities that our colleagues have done, this latest commitment from our Lintels Sales Supervisor at our South West Lintels Hub, Martin Brewer, is going to take some beating.
Martin has committed to complete a 13,000 ft Tandem Skydive on the 17th July! Wow! That’s comparable to two thirds of the height of Kilimanjaro! Is Martin a lover of heights? Would we describe him as an adrenaline junkie? Well, quite simply, no, however Martin does have a great heart, and when he learnt about the work that a local charity, “People against Poverty” do, he felt compelled to help them raise some more money and agreed to participate in their Skydive event.
People against Poverty are passionate about alleviating poverty and suffering both here in the UK and around the world. Their projects are designed to empower greater self-sufficiency, new hope and a more sustainable future – a handshake, not a handout. They identify and help develop projects and then provide ongoing support. Martin comments: “The work of People against Poverty is to support children and families to receive the very basics in life and to encourage self-sustainment. If you can spare any sort of donation it will certainly make the sky dive a little less scary! – Please remember Gift Aid too.”
Best of luck Martin – we’re sure you’ll love the experience, once your feet are firmly back on the ground!
