Celebrating International Women’s Day – Meet Neely Jones

To celebrate “International Women’s Day”, we’re meeting some of the wonderful women that work here at C&L. Today we meet Neely!

What does your role involve?

As Depot Manager, my role is all about keeping the branch running smoothly. This includes overseeing Health & Safety, ensuring all staff go home safely at the end of the day, managing daily operations, and leading the team to deliver the best service possible.

How do you feel being one of the few women in your workplace?

It doesn’t faze me at all. I focus on my role and what I bring to the team, rather than being one of the few women here.

What interests you in your role?

I felt it was the right time in my life to take on a new challenge, and this role offered exactly that—an opportunity to grow and push myself further.

How did you get to your position? Any advice for others?

I’ve worked in the industry for over 10 years across a variety of roles, which has given me a strong foundation. Along the way, I was fortunate to have opportunities to develop my skills, with plenty of support from previous colleagues. My advice? Take every opportunity to learn, step out of your comfort zone, and never be afraid to push for what you want.

What do you like about working for C&L?

The team here makes everyone feel equal, valued, and supported, which creates a great working environment.

How do you feel working in a male-dominated environment?

I’ve never let it faze me. I focus on my skills and experience rather than the gender balance, and I believe that’s what truly matters.

Do you think being a woman in this industry has affected your career opportunities?

Over the years, I’ve seen more women join the industry, and it’s great to see things evolving. There are always challenges, but I believe opportunities are there for those who work hard and take them.
